Alanya: details of the beautiful Kestel
Another calm and very picturesque area of Alanya has a beautiful name - Kestel. The area is located 9 km east of the city center between the equally quiet Tosmur and the crowded Mahmutlar. The area is not sparsely populated - according to 2019, 11,946 people live here. Among foreigners there are many Europeans and our Russian-speaking compatriots.
Kestel is famous for its unique landscapes, citrus groves, coniferous forests in its northern part. The main attraction of the area is the Dimchay River, one of the favorite vacation spots on hot summer days among both city residents and tourists.
Infrastructure
A unique difference of Kestel from other areas of Alanya is a very small number of hotels, and in this regard, a calm measured atmosphere even at the peak of the tourist season. The first line is completely occupied by beautiful modern residential complexes. Kestel began to develop actively only in recent years. Now there are chain supermarkets and grocery stores, cafes and restaurants, bakeries and pastry shops, ATMs and more. On Wednesdays, a farmer's market operates in Kestel - you can buy not only vegetables and fruits, but also textiles, clothes, shoes, household items.
The city administration invests heavily in the development of the district - in recent years, many parks, places of recreation, playgrounds have been opened. One of the most beautiful parks is located on the quay of Kestel - there is also a playground, and gazebos for relaxation, and sports simulators. The park is decorated with an aqueduct, a fountain and an original waterfall.
The Kestel district is also developing as a center for student life. It is here that Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat Alanya International University is located, in which students from 40 countries study. There is also a branch of Akdeniz Antalya International University. In addition, Doğa, a private Turkish college, is located in Kestel, there are public schools of primary and secondary education.
There is no hospital in the area, there is only a state clinic. The nearest hospital is just a few kilometers in Oba.
Bus communication with all areas of Alanya has been established; you can reach the city center by bus in 15 minutes.
Beaches
The length of the beach line of Kestel is about 2 km. As in other areas, there are beaches equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay, and there are city beaches for lovers of relaxation on their own. The beaches here are sandy with a gentle approach to the sea, in some places there are plates and large stones. At the confluence of the Dimchay River into the sea, where the Kestel region begins, the coolest water on the entire Alanya coast. In the hottest months, it is most comfortable to relax here.
Sights
The main natural attraction of the Kestel area is the Dimchay River, which borders the area from the west. On the banks of the river in the shade of trees are cafes and restaurants, where it is very pleasant to relax on hot days. Along the river to the beach stretches a beautiful promenade with playgrounds, benches, gazebos, sports equipment. There are fish farms upstream - here you can taste the freshly caught baked trout.
In the north of the region on Mount Jebi Reis, near the Dimchay River, there is another world famous natural attraction - Dim Cave. This vertically located cave is the second largest in Turkey and one of the largest in Europe. It was discovered not so long ago - in 1986, since 1998 it is open for visits along its entire length. The cave is about 400 m long; at the end of the gallery is a small underground lake. Everywhere on the walls and on the ceiling are growths of stalactites and stalagmites. There is constantly high humidity, and the temperature even in summer is no more than 20 degrees. An asphalt road with signs leads to the cave; there is a parking nearby, a cafe, a viewing terrace overlooking the gorge.
The property
Kestel is an elite low-rise area. In recent years, many modern complexes have been built here with a large beautiful territory and rich internal infrastructure. There are almost no hotels, so many residential complexes are located right by the sea. The area is suitable for permanent residence for lovers of silence and a measured rhythm of life, lovers of natural beauties. Ideal here for those who prefer a quiet comfortable vacation by the sea - almost all residential buildings in Kestel are located very close to the coastline.
